Aspire XC Weather Plan

XC Weather Protocol

Adjust the plan to the conditions, and treat warning signs as medical concerns.

1

Make the work easier early

Heat

Use the school or medical heat plan, shade, breaks, and a slower start when conditions demand it.

2

Warmth is part of the plan

Cold and rain

Use layers, dry clothes, shelter, and a warm recovery option after the effort.

3

Use the team schedule, not panic

Hydration

Offer fluids at planned breaks and let the athlete's response guide the fine-tuning.

4

Stop, cool, and route

Red flags

Confusion, collapse, severe weakness, unusual behavior, or worsening symptoms need immediate action.

Weather planning is a coaching decision; red flags are a medical decision.
