Base layer
Pack one meal path and one snack path
- The athlete should know what breakfast and the first recovery option will be.
- A real plan beats hoping there is something nearby.
Snack bag
Use familiar shelf-stable foods first
- Pretzels, bars, applesauce, crackers, PB packs, cereal, and dried fruit travel well.
- Travel is not the time to test new 'healthy' products.
Hydration bag
Bottle, sodium option, and refill plan
- The athlete should leave home with a filled bottle.
- Long travel days often need salty food or electrolytes too.
First Step
