Doubling or waiting between events? Small fueling choices matter most
Dear [Team Name] Families, Some outdoor athletes have long waits between events. Others double or move from prelims to another race later. That is where meet-day fueling gets tricky because the athlete needs support, but too much food too close to the event can also feel bad. The simplest rule is this: use small, familiar support between events. - small bites instead of one huge meal - easy carbs the athlete already tolerates well - steady fluids instead of forgetting for two hours and then chugging - recovery after the final event, not during every gap Families do not need to build a complicated between-event formula. They do need to stop treating two-event or long-gap days like the athlete can just wait it out on adrenaline. Athletes who double, especially in events that are not right on top of each other, usually do better when the bag already has a simple plan built into it. What matters here is practicing calm support, not overcorrecting and making the athlete feel heavy before the next event. This week, we are pairing the message with the event planner and race-week tools so the doubling plan feels practical and predictable.
