Build the setup now so the season does not rely on willpower
Dear [Team Name] Families, Good nutrition habits get blamed on motivation too often. In reality, athletes usually do better when the environment makes the next good choice easy. That is why this week is about setup, not lecture. A strong summer fuel setup usually includes: - one place where shelf-stable practice snacks live - one backup stash in a car, team room, or practice bag - one recovery option that is easy to restock - one clear plan for who notices when supplies are getting low The point is not to create a gourmet snack station. The point is to stop pretending the habit will happen consistently if nothing is in the house, in the car, or at practice when the athlete actually needs it. Families can keep this simple. Pick 3-5 items that your athlete already uses and restock them before they become emergencies. It is much easier to maintain a few dependable options than to constantly chase variety. This week also helps coaches and captains set a practical team norm: athletes should expect simple fuel to be part of the program, not something random or optional when somebody happens to bring it. We are pairing this week with the snack locker setup tool so the system can actually exist instead of staying a good idea.
